Booking train tickets through IRCTC is very easy and beneficial. It will save your time and help you book tickets as per your requirements. To book an Indian Railway ticket at the ease and convenience of home or office, all you need to have is a Credit card or Internet Banking account, internet access and a destination to travel. But first, we need to have a Log-in id into IRCTC’s website. IRCTC is a Public Sector Enterprise entrusted with selling railway tickets online on the internet.
An IRCTC account is necessary to authenticate yourself on the website and book railway tickets online. If you are a frequent traveller then it is must for you to have IRCTC account. For the ease of Railway ticket bookings and to avoid the hassle of long queues at the reservation counters, Indian Railways had launched this online ticketing platform.
This blog post will provide step-by-step guide to create a log-in id. Firstly, start at the official home page of IRCTC, and click on “Signup”. Users will then need to fill an online form. Special care must be taken while filling in mobile number and email id fields. Make sure to provide valid email id and mobile number as your user id, password, and an activation link will be sent via your E-Mail id. And the mobile verification code will be sent through your mobile number by SMS message. Submit the form. Click “OK” on the popup that shows your mobile number and email, if it is right. Or else click cancel and refill the information.
Accept the IRCTC terms and conditions by clicking on “Accept”. You will now receive a message greeting you “Thank You. You have been successfully registered.” Your account is now created, but you need to activate it. So check your email inbox where you will receive an email from IRCTC’s ‘ticket admin’ containing your activation link, user id and password. Click on the activation link. Similarly, your mobile number will receive a new message containing mobile verification code.
When you click on activation code, your account will be activated but still your mobile number has to be verified. You will receive a message “your mobile number is not been verified, kindly verify.” Enter your mobile verification code at the appropriate place. Then by using the ‘change password’ option, you can change the default password to new one. The “IRCTC Registration” process is now completed successfully. And your new IRCTC account is now fully functional. You can go ahead with IRCTC login and look into the process of online ticket booking.
